Boarding mares
Dedicated staff are available 24 hours a day to ensure that your mares (and their foals) are looked after to the best of our ability. All staff working with the horses live on site and are therefore available in the case of an emergency.
Mares and their foals are kept in small yards to minimise the risk of infection and in small groups in the paddock so that foals have other foals to play and graze with, without the intimidation of a large group.
We have 100 acres of prime grassland with established tree belts and hedges surrounding many of our paddocks. Our facilities include small turnout areas for young foals or horses on rehabilitation, sand turnout areas up to larger paddocks which can accommodate 6 mares and their foals.
Foaling facilities
Our foaling facilities include
- 5 foaling boxes with CCTV linked to the Stud Grooms house
- 24 hour supervision
- Dedicated “Sitting Up person”
- Heat lamps in each of the foaling boxes
- Weighbridge
- Rossdale and Partners are located approximately 5 minutes away and we have a strong back up service provided from them in the case of an emergency.
Foals are handled daily and are likely to experience routine veterinary and farrier procedures from an early age. Early handling encourages the foals to be more manageable whilst at the stud and when they return to their owners later in the year.
We are delighted to accept mares at Stanley House Stud for foaling down, all mares must have completed their course of Equine Herpes vaccination and a course of Rotavirus vaccinations before they will be accepted onto the stud.
